The Great Metropolis; A Mirror of New York This contemporary account of life in New York City is a treasure trove of (sometimes reliable) facts and (somewhat biased) opinions about the city during and immediately after the Pfaff's period. Browne also includes a detailed account of the Bohemian scene that flourished at Pfaff's, complete with a list of names and some reflections on the more "notable" members of the group (153-57).
