Personne remarks in his discussion of Tom Taylor's <cite>Overland Route</cite> that some of the "Pfaff Light Guard" would be well suited to perform in the first act, beginning with a scene aboard an East Indian Steamer, followed by a scene that takes place on a rock (2).  Personne gives an update on the "Opera Wars."  He also discusses the "Hibernian Rows": the dispute between Bourcicualt and Miss J.M.N.C. Davenport over a new version of <cite>Jeanie Deans</cite> and an argument between John Brougham and Barney Williams over their depictions of Irish gentlemen.
