Thoughts and Things No. III In this column, Clare reports that she has just returned from a trip out of town to see a friend perform the lead role in <cite>The Lady of Lyons</cite>.  Clare gives a dream-like account of her experience at the theater, the audience, and her trip backstage.  She also reprints the review of her friend's performance from one of the daily papers.  Clare expresses optimism about the state and happiness of the country.  She also reports another notable instance of plagiarism she has discovered.
