A Fatal Gift [from Once a Week] On his deathbed, Mr. C__ tells of his success with mesmerism.  Mr. C__claims to have been able to read minds, but the one mind he could not read was that of his love, Miss M__.  He claims his illness is the result of finally reading her thoughts and believing her in love with her cousin.  Miss M__ goes to Mr. C__and tells him it was but a moment's thought and nothing more.
