Captain Page's La Plata A recently published book titled <cite>La Plata</cite> chronicles U.S. Lieutenant Thomas T. Page’s dangerous exploration of the two rivers Paraná and Paraguay in the La Plata area of South America. A summary of his journey and a review of the book are provided. The writer regrets that no men of science accompanied the Lieutenant to offer learned observations of plant and animal life in the area; however, the book’s contributions to geographical science and the value of its depictions of a world previously unexplored cannot be denied.
