An Evening at La Malmaison [from 'Episodes of French History during the Consulate and the First Empire'] A story in which Napolean Bonaparte relates a tale told by the headsman of Frederick William, King of Wurtemburg.  The headsman's tale recounts the execution of a young woman, which although never mentioned, many of the listeners suspect to be the king's young wife.
