Mr. WILLIAM NORTH, the author and poet, came to a sudden death yesterday afternoon at his residence, No. 7 Bond-street. Disappointment, acting on a temperament preternaturally susceptible, and alive to influences which others could scarcely understand, impelled Mr. NORTH to the melancholy rashness of self-murder. He was found in his chamber a corpse, prussic acid being undoubtedly the cause of his death. An inquest will be held at 9 o'clock this morning.

Mr. North was perhaps more widely known than any other writer connected with the periodical literature of America or England. His poems and tales have been reprinted in hundreds of magazines and papers here and in the Old Country, and his sad end will be lamented far beyond the circle of his intimate friends.
