The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation provided a grant to index and annotate The New York Saturday Press in 2006.

A portion of a Digital Humanities Start-up Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanites (with co-PI Andrew Jewell of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln) provided funding to structure the Relationships data in 2008.

Lehigh University Faculty Research Grants provided funding to hire research assistants in 2005, 2006, 2009, and 2013. A Lehigh University Humanities Center Grant provided funding to hire research assistants in 2014.

Images of The New York Saturday Press were scanned from microfilm owned by Emory University, which was made from original copies held by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Funding to scan this microfilm was made possible by the James and Grace Schnabel Memorial Fund to Support Library Materials at Lehigh University in 2004. 

Images of The New York Leader were scanned from microfilm owned by the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, which was made from original copies held by the New York Public Library

Images of Vanity Fair have been provided by the University of Michigan Library, whose guidelines for access and use are available here.

The Missouri History Museum provided images of the Thomas Butler Gunn diaries.

New York University Press provided transcriptions of letters that originally appeared in The Correspondence of Walt Whitman. 

The Walt Whitman Archive provided images of Whitman's New York Notebook, which is held at the Library of Congress as part of the Thomas Biggs Harned Collection.

The David Rumsey Map Collection provided the image of the Map of the City of New-York and Its Environs from Actual Survey under the Direction of H. F. Walling (New York, NY: S. B. Tilden, 1860).
