Abstract

Mr. Edward Pickney, a “rash” and “poor” youth, prepares through much food and alcoholic drink for his wedding to Mary Anne Gale. The narrator is sure to emphasize the dread surrounding a young man’s last hours of bachelorhood and the imprisonment marriage represents to men.
