Abstract
The speaker in the six stanza poem relays the lesson he learned upon his discovery of a "pale, sweet flower" within the depths of a dark gorge of alders. Admiring its beauty and saddened by its distance, a message is sent to him from below: a soul "tossed" of ambition can find joy in being "Content."
