Writing to "My Dear Figaro," Ego states that he is going to write about the theatrical and musical events in Paris as he was asked, but that his report may not live up to expectations. Ego discusses the new opera, The Bride of Abydos and the events and performers at the Conservatoire. Ego also gives updates on the new plays being written, the latest art exhibitions, and publications of interest. Ego also comments on the King of Portugal's visits to the composer Rossini while in Paris. At the end of his letter, Ego draws Figaro's and the readers' attention to the Pantheon Universel, a new newspaper from Paris "exclusively devoted to the great exhibition of 1867" (105).
