Supposedly written by John Burroughs under the pseudonym "All Souls," the fourth part of "Fragments from the Table of an Intellectual Epicure" questions what it is that makes the mind "pure." In questioning this, All Souls differentiates between an "ordinary" mind and a pure one that works like a lantern.
