On October 23, 1858, Henry Clapp, Jr., published the inaugural issue of The Saturday Press.
The Feuilleton begins with a series of letters to the Editor about Personne's remarks in the Saturday Press; the most notable contributions are those by Anna Maria and on behalf of Whiskers. After these letters, Personne discusses the upcoming performance of the unknown Cortesi in Sappho. Personne also mentions that Miss Heron is in town and has done Tiemann a favor by perfoming in his benefit for Eddy at Niblo's. Personne writes that Laura Keene's Theatre and Wallack's have ended "unusually prosperous" seasons and talks about the new productions and actors at each theatre. Personne also makes a brief mention of opera news and critics.
