Abstract

Personne discusses his current reviews of three prominent actresses. He also discusses the foreign origins of several popular plays, including Our American Cousin and The Veteran. Personne notes that The Veteran is currently drawing a larger audience than Our American Cousin and gives the box office status of other theaters as well. Personne reviews Forty Theives at the Bowery and compares it to The Veteran. Among other theatrical notes, Personne notes that the City Editor of the Tribune (Frank Ottarson) has publicly announced that he is not planning to marry Ada Clifton. Personne highlights the reasons why this claim is unnecessary, as it appears Clifton had no intention to marry Ottarson. Personne also notes that there will be a benefit for Mr. Jefferson that evening.
