Abstract

Reprints two of Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poems--“New Timon and the Poets” and “A Character”--and identifies them as deliberate attacks on Bulwer (presumably the notoriously bad writer Edward Bulwer-Lytton). Also reprints Bulwer’s “offending extract” that harshly criticized Tennyson’s poetry.
