The diaries that Thomas Butler Gunn maintained in the period between 1849 and 1863 contain a wealth of information about the New York literary scene in general and the Pfaff's bohemians in particular. Note: The Missouri Historical Society has assigned numbers to the volumes that do not always match up with the handwritten numbers that Gunn himself notes on the first pages of a given volume of the diary.
