Abstract

This dissertation examines the Tent Street Studio Building, its tenants, and their art. This includes discussion of its architecture, history, and purpose as well as its context in comparison to other studios in 19th-century New York City. It also includes close examination of the first group of tenants, which included a number of individuals associated with the Bohemians at Pfaff's.
