Abstract

This original drawing by Frank Bellew is used here by permission of Edward and Deborah Pollack Fine Art. The illustration includes a pencil inscription on the support that reads "Life for Feb. 29." Given that the the Steamer Arizona (mentioned in the background of the image) was built in 1863 and burned on February 27, 1865, it is likely that this illustration is from 1865.
